long weekend in Bacoor
Bacoor, Cavite.
I planned to get there last Friday before the telecast of
Zaido, my latest favorite TV series in GMA-7. Unfortunately, I didn't
count on the traffic at Talaba. At least, I managed to watch half of
the fantaserye.
This is the fourth time that I went there and I amazed
myself with my sense of direction. My mother, who has been there a
lot more times than I was, couldn't remember where to get off to go to
my sister's subdivision.
My sister had been waiting for me to help arrange her
Christmas tree and other decors. It has always been my job to take
care of our decors at home, in Bacood. So by Friday night, her tree
was up and decorated, to the delight of my nephew Ardi, the following
day.
We went to SM City Bacoor yesterday, to buy more decors, and
other stuff we need. It was the first time that my mother and I
shopped there.
For me, it looked a lot like SM City Manila and SM City Sta.
Mesa in its layout. It even had French Baker branch at the middle
entrance.
The only jarring experience we had was getting a taxi home.
My sister already heard from one of her officemates who also live in
Cavite that taxi drivers waiting in line at SM City Bacoor don't use
the fare meter and charge exorbitantly. What she said is true.
After our shopping, my sister wanted us to rush to avoid the
long queue at the terminal of Gawaran--SM Bacoor jeepneys, which are
called Yellow Cabs. She didn't want us to take a taxi to get home
because of what her officemate said but I still tried our luck.
I approached the driver of the first taxi in line and asked
if he used the fare meter. His answer was, "no, we're in the
province" (hindi, nasa probinsya tayo). It was seconded readily by
other drivers nearby. I left them, of course.
I couldn't believe that provincial rate was higher than the
rates in Metro Manila and that "contracting" was tolerated in SM City
Bacoor. The security guard nearby was not concerned. In other SM
malls, the guard would have gotten the plate number and reported the
driver. I asked another security guard in SM City Bacoor if all taxi
drivers don't use fare meters but he said that some don't and the only
option was to report them to the mall security so as to ban them. It
was a poor practice compared to other SM malls.
Anyway, I also bought myself a pillow that I could use
whenever I stayed at my sister's house. I thought that the reason
that I couldn't get a good sleep there was because I wasn't using my
own pillow. I finally got a good sleep last night.
And I hope to get one soon as I am already home :)
